About Held by Hope

We have partnered because our strengths compliment each other, so that we can deliver some of the highest quality doula services in the Twin Cities. We want to serve our clients. BETTER. We both work with each family so they know us well, and never have to worry that our clients would be with a stranger in case of emergency. They can count on us, no matter what. We keep our practice small on purpose, so that we can continue to develop personal relationships and meet the needs of each family we serve. We do our best to attend to each of our respective repeat clients births whenever possible. We always attend births totally rested and refreshed to continuously deliver the best doula care. In the hour of greatest need, we can call on each other for new ideas, new positions to try and encouragement. We are taking doula care to the next level.

Hope Lien - Held by Hope more about Hope

Supporting women gently to be empowered during their pregnancy, birth, postpartum and beyond is my passion. I take great delight in journeying with women of all ages and backgrounds as they enter motherhood. It is very important to me to tailor my care to each individual family. I have been doing birth work the past 7 years, postpartum work for 5 years and have worked with children and families for more than 10 years in various capacities.

I am certified as a Birth and Postpartum doula through DONA International, certified as a Lactation Counselor through Healthy Children, and certified as a Breastfeeding Without Birthing instructor.

I live in the Minneapolis area with my husband and have the honor of mothering my two children that I call my little “miracles”. My 3 year old daughter came to us through adoption and I had the beautiful experience of helping to catch her when she entered the world, as well as induce lactation in order to nurse her for two years. Then, I very unexpectedly became pregnant with my second miracle baby, who was born at home with the loving support of my doulas, midwives, support of my partner and baby’s big sister. My little boy is almost 5 months old.

I love supporting all families– regardless of their background or their hopes or plans for their birthing time. Each birth is unique and sacred in it’s own right. No matter how that looks.

Natalia has been attending births since she was 16 years old, and after having her own doula during her second birth experience found her calling and passion to become a doula herself. She has completed her birth doula certification through DONA International, postpartum doula training through Childbirth International and childbirth educator certification through Lamaze International which provides me with in-depth knowledge and skills. She also has specialized experience working with women who have experienced a loss, as well as experience working as a birth doula at Health Foundations in St. Paul attending both home and birth center births. She is the founder of A Woman’s Design, the first birth doula agency in in the metro area, and also has a childbirth and family education center in Roseville MN called the Nesting Place. Natalia has been featured on Women’s Venture publications including their website, as well as in MN Business Magazine and was also named Women Venture Entrepreneur of the month in April 2015.

Tara Anderson
Birth Doula & Postpartum Assistance client

It was great having someone to explain my birth plan to the hospital staff so that I could focus on my labor. This also allowed my husband focus on me.

Jina Nelson
Postpartum Assistance client

Everything she did was wonderful! I would say her lactation support was most valuable. She was outstanding in her guidance and support as I began to nurse my newborn.
